Let the fun begin!
Comments? Suggestions? Questions? Did I miss anyone?
Don't worry, I'll be cleaning up the main draft guide page on Sunday. Also, please remember that I will be constantly updating this draft guide through out the off-season so don't just look at each draft tool once because what it says today might not be what it says tomorrow if ya know what I mean.....

Re: CC for Morneau « Result #2 on Nov 27, 2007, 1:46pm »
I'd recommend doing a deal like this for a better player than Morneau, maybe a Howard, Wright, Utley, Fielder, Cabrera, ortiz, etc. Morneau is a bit risky because we don't know what kind of player he really is. We know he can hit 30+HR but he has shown almost no consistency over the last few seasons.
In a 20 team league, if you are going to trade two players of this caliber, you need to ask for a more serious player, and/or ask for a second useable player in return...preferably someone who is an upgrade over Kelly Johnson, who looks like your weakest keeper other than Ted Lilly.

CC for Morneau « Result #3 on Nov 22, 2007, 4:23pm »
What do you think about this trade CC+OCabrera for JMorneau?
20 team 12 player keeper league. Here are the players for consideration to keep (not in order):
2B KJohnson 3B EEncarnacion SS OCabrera OF CYoung, Vlad G, JDamon, GSheffield
SP CC, BMyers, IanSnell, PHughes, TLilly, RHill RP MarianoRivera
My concern is losing a for sure ace and a very solid SS. I'm also a little nervous about the lineup that Morneau will be hitting in esp. losing THunter.

Re: How about that Barry Bonds? « Result #4 on Nov 20, 2007, 3:25pm »
Me personally, I am totally against steroid use of course and would never wish that any kids get their hands on it. But look, most performance enhancing substances that were bought years ago were technically not on the "banned substances" list as far as I'm concerned. The problem is, we'll never know who took these substances and who didn't and how much or for how long. We'll just never know the truth of every living baseball player. So for me, I just have to chalk it up as an era, the "steroid era". Did Derek Jeter ever take performance enhancing drugs? I sure as hell hope not! But you know what, he has played in the steroid era. Will that mean his numbers are tainted even if his innocence was proven? No, of course not....but he played in that era.
Should Barry Bonds or Mark McGwire have an asterik next to their names. I do not think so because they played in this "steroid era". People will just have to accept that steroids were used even by the most obsolete players to help get ahead, last a whole season, perform at a higher level, etc.
Go back 5-7 years.... What happened after Brady Anderson hit 50 HR? Remember how big guys like Brad Fullmer and Gabe Kapler were? Where are they now? Remeber how big Sammy Sosa was? The home run derby during the All Star game in Fenway? They were hitting the ball over the d**n Citgo sign for christs sake! Ridiculous! But you know what.......it was the time we lived in.
I am sure as technology continues to rapidly grow, this game will change even more. Maybe not with performance enchancing drugs, but maybe something else.
Think about this.......
back in the 20's and 30's, players used those tiny gloves with like three fingers and no webbing. Now guys have 13 and 14 inch gloves to catch fly balls. Hasn't that enhanced the game? Should we put asteriks next to fielding percentages and errors records because these new gloves we've used the last 30 years are bigger and performance enhancing? Just something to think about.
I am not here saying performance enhancing substances are okay, I'm just saying that this is what we have to deal with. there is no way around it. It has taken way to long to clean up. We could have dealt with a year or two of this but this is something that stretches back into the 90's, and maybe even earlier. We just have to deal with it.
So to the media.....get over it! I'm still buying my Yankee tickets like clock work every season until I die!

How about that Barry Bonds? « Result #5 on Nov 20, 2007, 3:12pm »
So what's the verdict? I mean the verdict that matters? Not the one that decides if Barry Bonds should go to jail or not or if he is guilty of lying to a federal grand jury. No, the verdict I am talking about is the one from the fans! Is Bonds' home run record mean anything? Is there an asterik in your mind next to Barry's name? On top of that, what will you say if we find out that there are a bunch of superstar names on "the list" the investigators are about to leak?
These are some burning questions that the fans need to answer, not the media! Who cares what the media's opinion is.....its what we think that matters. We're the ones paying for tickets and clothing and memorabilia for this game.
I want to know what you guys will do if you found out that your favorite player took performance enhancing substances back in 2004! So, what will it be??......
